Well... you can pick up some memory that is on the verge of being obsolete:

for about ~45

or you can do an upgrade to a new motherboard also and get newer ram:

for about ~88

Then try sticking with the Windows xp for a bit.

As a caveat, I only matched the memory to the type 667 for your board, and 800 for the other board. I didn't dive deep into the compatibility. You will want to double check that. Likewise with the mother board, and your exact cpu model.

I know, dad has the os just need to figure if its 64bit, so if i can switch it for free, why not?

if i switch to win7 (cause i doubt ill find winxp 64bit around here) ill have to make another upgrade later on... so i could get a better board, stick with 775 socket, 8gb ram and laaaater upgrade to a quad... (sucks by the time i try switching sockets but i cant do better than that for now)

XP 64-bit is horrible and you're X10 better off with Windows 7 64-bit.

Sure a new system will be better. Your current platform can hold its own when equipped with the 4-core, but with the GTX 560 + 4GB RAM it should perform better.

I'm going to have to switch board brands... ASRock did great with me but i guess ill try a gigabyte (GA-G41MT-USB3) now. I'll be adding corsair vengeance ddr3 2x4gb ram that a friend just bought and cant use 😛. 64bit win7 and with luck, by may ill be ordering a quad... if not, full board and cpu change by january

thank you guys for everything!!! i was going insane... not so nice buying sumtn new and noticing everything else bottlenecks it... things will get here by next week so ill be posting results then.

cya and thanks! you guys rock, mean it! 😀
