I am sorta in the market for a new gaming PC right now and it seems the GPU/CPU market is still scarce and scalped thus pre-built seems like the best option.

I have been using my I7 8700k & 1080ti along with an Acer Predator 4k 32" 60hz monitor for a few years now and I know, the 1080ti isn't really good enough for 4k but I've been just playing moba games so I was able to go by without problems. With Lost Ark just came out, I kind of want to venture into this game so I think I might need a better GPU.

I have below are 3 options from Newegg and Amazon that seems like a good deal. Please recommend which I should go with and/or recommend a different setup/pc if better and available else where. Thank you so much!

I've read that the new 12900k is better than the 5950x in most cases but only by a small margin but the temps are definitely higher. On the other hand, going with the 5950x will give me the 3080ti but it is open box so I am not sure how I feel about it. Or I could save some money and go with the Alienware R10 for $2500 and it still has decent parts with the 6800xt and 5900

I am sorta leaning torward the 12900k option because it allows me to have the newer DDR5 ram but also it is not Open Box hahaha. Unless someone has something good to say about the Newegg Open Box. Also, does anyone know when the new 6000x Ryzen CPUs will be out?

https://www.newegg.com/msi-aegis-rs-12te-255us/p/N82E16883152938?quicklink=true (12900k & 3080) = $3174
https://www.newegg.com/abs-ala256-legend/p/N82E16883360170R?quicklink=true (5950x & 3080 ti) = $3230 (OPEN BOX)
https://www.amazon.com/Alienware-Au...09HL94HNS/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8 (5900 & 6800 xt) = $2500

Yea, I just saw this video a few days ago thus am not too sure if I would want to go with the 5950x & 3080ti route because of the Open Box but the 3080ti is nice though :/
Here's another option. Pretty much any local mom & pops PC repair shop will build a PC for you for a small fee. Order the parts and when they come in take them down there and have whoever build it for you. This way you know exactly what hardware you're getting. btw you can RGB this build out for a few extra dollars ... case, RAM, AIO, etc ...

Userbenchmark is a very useful site for comparing speeds, temps, and performance of different GPUs, CPUs, and more!

I personally would go all out with the 3080ti option, just because there is only a 100$ difference, but it is true the 12900k is marginally faster, though unless you plan on running 50 instances of Minecraft, I don't think you will notice a difference.

In my personal opinion, 4k gaming may seem amazing, though I find that a higher refresh rate (144hz) over 4k resolution makes games insanely smooth. You don't have to be stuck on 1080p though!
Look into 144hz, 1440p monitors. Those are my go-to monitors and I have 3 of them.... try one out at your local Best Buy or Microcenter (if you have one near you)
But it's all based on opinion!

I don't think I am going to do anything that CPU intensive hahaha because my 8700k is still plenty for my usage (a lot of chrome tabs open and 1-2 games open). Is the 3080 ti much faster than the 3080?

I've never used a 1440P monitor before & anything with high refresh rate. I went straight from the normal 1080P monitor to this 32" 4k monitor so I have absolute no experience in high refresh monitors. I heard that the high refresh is only good for FPS games but in terms of other games such as moba and mmo...it doesn't make that much of a difference?

3080ti is not a whole lot faster (~15%), though it does vary based on what model you get. The 6800XT on the other hand, is ~30% SLOWER compared to a 3080.

Yes, that is true, high refresh rate does tend to be more of a FPS fan's wet dream. If you are playing moba and mmo, then it will still make the game super smooth, but you won't need it necessarily like an FPS player would. But again, its super opinion based

So the 3080 is not enough for 4k as I would want the minimum to be a the 3080 ti and/or 6900 xt?

Do you prefer the 3080 ti over the 6900xt? If doing custom, I think I would have to go with the 5950x route because DDR5 is extremely hard to find and pricy :/. If I go with Ryzen, would it be better if I pair it with the AMD 6900xt GPU as well?

I'm an Nvidia guy so my opinion would be biased. Honestly though I'd call around and find someone who builds PC's for a small fee if you bring them the parts. Like I said in another thread, I live in Alaska and I can think of at least two local mom & pop computer/laptop repair shops within a twenty minute drive from me that do that sort of thing. That way you not only save money but you don't get screwed by getting crappy components including those gimmicky horrid airflow cases that come with prebuilts.

Oh building the PC isn't a problem at all because I can totally do that myself hahaha. I was just looking at prebuilts because I seem to not be able to find the 3080ti & DDR5 at MSRP.

If u go amd it would be better to do 5900x or 5800x over the 5950x better overclocks. Also the 6800xt is better than the 3080 in raw power when paired with the amd cpu. Min u need 3080ti or 6900xt for 4k gaming. Stay away from newegg. Amazon has great deals or u can go to hp or dell direct and get some deals. U can get a xps 12700k with 3080 for less than $2800. But if your trying for max fps i would go with either alienware with 3090 and 12700k or the hp omen 45l builds. Both water cooled.

4k gaming is not cheap. If u can't afford 4k than its just a dream. Also they have xps models u can build for around $2800 with 12700k and 3080 that will get u close. Also if u can't afford the 4k pc than u really can't afford a 4k monitor for gaming.
