Gaming with linux?

So, im looking for gaming computer under 500€, and that means i gotta get linux to get my parts fit in my budget.

Yeah, the guestion was is the linux good for gaming.

Steamboxes run on linux, so there's a fairly good library of games available.

I'd check for yourself what games are available on Steam for Linux. In my case it is a very small subset of the games that I play.
