The killer part is the 2x GTX 690. If replace with something else, or even single display card, it is much cheaper. Mine has similar spec, CPU, RAM, HDD, except I got a GTX 670 OC. I do not even exceed $2000

why not? seems alright
although RAM could have been lower, 12 GB is enough

8GB should be more than enough for most people. Some people tend to go with 16GB or more even though they don't do any heavy rendering or CAD work, only gaming. Thus, they only use up a fraction of it. I've only used about 6.5GB out of 8GB so far.

Estimating $300 spent on the CPU water-cooling system, end total is $3120.

Just incase anyone was curious.
**Note though, there is more than a few spots where they spend unnecessary money on parts, such as the $370 Mobo, $160 in RAM, $210 SSD, and $210 1200w Power Supply. (Arguably the CPU should be an 3570k too but oh well.)

I don't see 2x GTX 690. I see:
and a dual-GPU Nvidia GeForce GTX 690 4 GB graphics card.

Meaning that the GTX has 2 GPUs not that you get 2 GTX's

Would it be possible for TH to do a comparison with build like this ^, vs say a $1200-1500, $2000-2500 rig?

Nvidia 690, is unquestionably *one* of, if not, the best cards out there, but with the price in the 1k range.... Isn't x2 a little over kill, anyways?

Whoops sorry, I read that wrong as well.

to much yes for most of us but the cost of labor and skills in tuning it properly without heat problems and errors /restart when using it is what you are paying for this

While I like the HAF cases because they provide great value.
If you're going with a super high end build like this and dishing out big bucks and watercooling, you should go with a classier case like Lian Lis

[citation][nom]reprotected[/nom]Bro I can buy 3 Macbook Pros with that money.[/citation]

Bro those 3 mac book pros would get out classes in every single department by this

You realize I can gut my current Q6600..... Socket 775, but a new dual 2011 motherboard $600, 2 hex core intel cpu's with hyper threading (12 cores/24 with hyper threading) 96gb of DDR-3 ram, buy 2 Samsung 840 pro 256gb SSD's, and 2 x 7990's for about the same price? and it would make that system look like the system my kid uses.

And your 3 mac book pro's have 1/12th the power of My M17xR4 at the same price 🙂

Desktops are dead, they should come out with a 11" $3,500 gaming laptop, or maybe even a gaming tablet. No, a $3,500 gaming smartphone, that only plays multiplayer games, because the future is
