In my little Southeast Iowa town, there simply was no gas/very little
to buy at most stations (only checked 3 on my end of town). The one
that I found still pumping was only at 2.99 per gallon though.

Last time i saw it here in the hillsboro, oregon area was 2.50$ a
gallon. *sigh* its likely gone up since then. Gas prices are now become
rediculous. I envy those hybrid car owners now. I still want a custom
electric car/motorcycle for myself someday...

Gas in Hamden, CT here ranges from $2.85 at the Mobil to $3.35 ($2.55
yesterday) at the Gulf station which is usually the cheapest in town. And,
there was quite a line at the Mobil.

I was in Philly for business yesterday and gas was $3.19 for regular. Got
back home to Pittsburgh and it was $2.69. Wife said that she saw $2.99
today though.

Go to www.gasbuddy.com

You can look at highs and lows in each state.

$3.099 in Mason City, IA, as of yesterday. I have yet to go out and see
what it is this morning. We are usually home to some of the lowest
prices in the midwest, yesterday we were the highest in the state of Iowa.

At 13 mpg, my '01 Dodge Van maybe gets driven twice a month if that
much. And I don't dare let the gas gauge go below 3/4 of a tank. It's
like a 33 gallon tank. 🙁

So yes it has affected me driving long distances (not that I ever went
too far any ways ), but I now think about even a 45 min drive.

Me too. Used to make roadtrips here and there for cab rescues and
deals found.
Paid the highest I've ever paid today at $3.19/gal for Gas today. Had
enouph money for maybe 5 bucks worth. Just pathetic these oil
companies.
I'd say we really need to get on track with something else fast, but
hell the oil companies will have their hands all over it and they'll
keep you spending with them.
Saw a commercial again for BP on Fox tonight about new things, new
ideas, new technologies. And I thought to myself, yea. Like the ones
you bought to kill.

I used to make road trips to industrial auctions and occasionally for
video games too. Nowdays, forget it. My Astro is a bit too thirsty
for those to make sense anymore.

So.. my plan is to leave the 'stro parked for a while and start driving
a trans-port. Should still be able to squeeze a game in there, yet it
is somewhat lightweight and aerodynamic. SHOULD make longer road trips
possible again.

I don't blame the auto industry or oil companies for not adopting new
ideas quicker. Cars are already pretty high-tech. With new
technologies comes new learning curves, new problems, new unknowns.
Trust me with this, as someone in the auto industry, we have our hands
full trying to product an affordable, quality product using existing
technology :)

I paid $2.83 in Olympia, WA this morning. It only went up 10 cents since
the hurricane, it was $2.73 last weekend. The Northwest seems to have
avoided the biggest price spikes.

I've not driven my truck much nowadays (gets under 10 MPG), sits at the
parking lot at my work for the last 3 months. My main driver, a hybrid,
sure is handy to have in a time of high gas prices.
