I have a Gateway DX4885-UB3A desktop and recently decided to upgrade the PSU from the stock 300w PSU to a 500w PSU to hadle a XFX RADEON R7 260X graphics card. My power supply showed up and when I cheked the main power connector on the motherboard, it was a 12 pin unlike a 20/24 pin connector on the PSU I ordered. I have done some research on what to do and I am stumped. I would like to know if there is any adapter I can get without having to rewire or if there is a 500w PSU I can order that will connect to my motherboard properly.

Here is the power supply I ordered: http://

The motherboard uses a proprietary design for the power connector. Common issue with this model. Every single Newegg review talks about this.

You are kind of SOL. You must either, but a new motherboard, which will require also require you reinstall Windows, or you return the PSU and GPU and buy a card that can run on the PSU it came with, like a gtx750.

That link doesn't exactly help me, i have seen adapters online that are acer 24 pin to 12 pin adapters and im sure there are adapters for the model of my motherboard (DX4885-UB3A) and I definently do not want to do a motherboard swap.

Is the main 12 pin female connector on the motherboard of the model of my pc the same as all acer/gateway motherboards?
