I have a Gateway SX2855-UB10P. I have read that the motherboard will support 2nd Generation Intel CPUs with less than 65w. So, I picked up a Pentium G2020 to upgrade from the Celeron that was installed originally. When I install the Pentium and turn it on, it gives a beep code that I assume is for the CPU since nothing else changed. When I put the original Celeron back in, it boots fine. So, I go to Gateway's website to look for a BIOS update. The only ones available are BIOS version P01.B2 dated 11/21/2011 (which is the version currently running), and UEFI version P11.A4 dated 03/27/2013. I would like to upgrade to the UEFI version since that has a better chance of supporting the Pentium CPU. When I go to update the BIOS to UEFI (both in Windows, and from a DOS boot disk), it gives me an error stating "ROM file size does not match existing BIOS size." Is this because I am trying to convert from BIOS to UEFI? Is this even possible? From what I have been reading, it can be done...the only hangup I have read is that the OS will become unbootable, but I don't care about that...I will be formatting and reinstalling Windows anyway.

Pentium G2020 is Ivy Bridge. Motherboard does not support Ivy Bridge only Sandy Bridge are compatible.

BIOS - UEFI for Windows 8 (Not for Upgrades) P11.A4
Upgrading your system BIOS incorrectly could harm your Gateway Product.
