GB Ethernet Connection

Hello,
If I have a pc that does not support 1gb ethernet connection will anything bad happen to the pc?
I mean 2nd generation i3 4gb of ram, 10/100Mb.
I know I can't get over the limit but will it damage my motherboard or processor?

Nope it shouldn't. But get a better PC so you can fully use that juicy GB.
