Gearbox Rebooting Duke Nukem Franchise

never played it but watched enough.
you also missed the ones where they complained about the game being sexist... i completely ignore any review like that, just because they aren't really reviewing it at that point, they are picking it apart instead of playing it.

Its fun in a very juvenile way, and most people are so used to military FPS #241 that anything not a FPS military shooter immediately gets tossed out. Duke is similar to Serious Sam, except not quite so serious. You run around shooting everything with minimal strategy other then (get hit and run the fck away). That's it, that is all the gave every tried to be.

Duke Nukem Forever really wasn't that bad but it wasn't the greatest either. I look forward to seeing what the next one has to offer. As for the release date...
I won't hold my breath.

DNF is a breath of fresh air (some would call it a fart). I especially like the part where you get to box on the aliens nads.

lol i was just trying ot think of how to simplify serious sam some more...
shoot the gun
circle straif
line up enemies so they can injure each other
and dodge the bullets.

god i hope new serious sam is like first and second encounter but better graphics...

the first level, is a completely political correct version of the game what everyone "wanted" the game to be like (people who say its sexist)

it zooms out a bit from the monitor

duke: what the (dont want sanction) is this (dont want sanction)
person: we caved to pressure and re issued the game
....

you can imagine the dailouge.

and cut to game, you decide on a map, what alien disaster you want to handle first, and you can go in relitivly any order, after the first few missions to this point.

but the joke is, that every mission you can go to, is around where the people complained live, so while there, you have hidden objective of teaching those people who the duke is...

but thats just me.

i like the launch trailer, its as easy as one two three, synced up to that.

heres hoping that the nest game takes 2-4 years, a normal dev cycle, and is sell put together, and lets you carry every gun, and making come joke about call of duity, and master cheif, hopfully in an offensive way.

something like, he carys pistols, a shot gun and is given a rocket launcher, struggles to lift it, and than picks it up with ease, something like "i bet you thought i was a master (don't want sanction again) who just got called to duty... he he, i can carry as much as i please" cant really say everything i want, really want to avoid sanction, but thats hard talking in a duke voice.

I bet GearBox goes out of business before they ever get started on a new Duke game. Just the way it should be.

Sometimes I really have to wonder what everyone expects from Duke? His entire character concept is a joke on modern day hero's. He's basically the anti-hero.

They expected an eloquent back story rife with hardship, loss, fall from grace and later redemption. They wanted to hear about how his parents died and his struggles as a child. They wanted a romantic love story with him rescuing his love from the aliens who themselves are just misunderstood.

At least that's what I get from reading all the bad reviews and comments. It's like they took points away because of his bad attitude and masochistic commends in the beginning scene. The dude has two girlfriends who happen to be twins, I'm sorry but he's going to be a shallow character. Honestly the game was fun, other then the stupid micro race car part. The further you get into the game the more fun it becomes, the entire last half feels exactly like Duke3D did. I know this because I recently replayed Duke3D with eDuke32 and the High Resolution Pack installed. DNF is an homage to Duke3D which means it must include the toilet humor and run & gun style fighting.
