Help, Gentlemen & Ladies
My problem is griphics card black screens in windowsMe. MB gives two beeps at post. System is as followes:
Inwin full tower (4 fans)
400W Power supply (2 fans)
Gigabyte GA-6OXE1 (on board audio OFF)
Creative 3D Blaster Annihilator 2 Ultra
IBM REGISTERED 512Mb SDRAM (one stick)
IBM Deskstar 45Gb and 75Gb 7200rpm HDs
Teac 48X CD-ROM
Yamaha 426 CD-RW
SB X-Gamer Soundcard
Dazzle DVC-2
SMC Ethernet card
Hayes Analog modem

System will run in 16 colors fine OUCH. Load Creative Drivers (650 build) Reboot; black screen and all drives are running MS-DOS real-time drivers. Any info I hope will help. Bruce©

It sounds like you may have some registry settings,drivers and Inf. files left over from your old graphics card. Also check your Autoexec.bat, config.sys files for entries.Then check your startup folder for entries for your old card.

Full format C: even wrote zeros to the drive; (took about an hour) Ho more info system is down to floppy drive, cd-rom, 45Gb hd, MB, and graphics card. No change! Thanks Rick for responding. I am hoping that Tom or one of his assoicates could build a like system and give me some feedback. Because I am a EET and am at my wits end. Thinking about sending card to MFG, and see if it's the problem. Will check back often. Still any ideas welcome. Bruce©

refresh my memory on your mobo, what chipset and what processor are you running? Have you tried to disable fast writes and turned off agp4x mode in bios to see if this helps?

Guy's for what it is worth. I loaded the nvidia reference drivers last night. Came up like a charm. Been loading things like mad. Yes Ncogneto I have tryed alot of things. I hope this helps someone else. Bruce©
