I am curious about why my Celeron 550 (from 366) does so well on Win2K. It isn't blazing fast, but I benchmarked Quake3 demo001 on high quality at 800x600 and scored 75 fps. I have a dual boot with Win98, and it scored only 71fps. Huh? I thought Win 98 was supposed to be faster. Considering that the graphics card is a Leadtech GeForce 256 with 32mb of sdr, I am really surprised. Checking various websites around the web, I find that the benchmark numbers should probably be lower by maybe ten fps or more. So you know about my system:
mobo: Abit BP6 ( I have only run the Win 2K benchmark with one cpu)
memory: 256 MB set at cas 3
Video card: Leadtech Geforce 256 at standard memory and core speed w/ Det 3 6.31 drivers in both OSes
Hard drive: Seagate Barricuda ATA66
OSes: Win2K (no SP1) and Win98
I can't wait until I get my other cpu back--same kind--for I am lending it to a friend until the end of this week.
