geforce 3 viability on a p3-800mhz?

Hiya.. I've noticed in the past that graphics cards were fast enough that machines were the bottleneck.. thus making it less worthwhile to purchase a graphics card...

I haven't seen anything on the subject, so I wanted to ask if it's worth upgrading to a GeForce3 (probably Ti200, but maybe Ti500) on a machine that's a PIII-800mhz (well, 600 running at 8800)...

If the card is so screaming fast that my system bus and/or CPU are going to be the bottleneck, then I'd just assume wait until I can afford a new machine...

Any help would be appreciated...

when you are getting a new computeR?If you are getting a new computer soon, just get the Ti 500
or if you are satisfied with your current one, just stick with it then.. I am using aPII 350 with a leadtek winfsat geforce 2 ti

I am running a p-3 800eb w\512 ram and just upgraded from a geforce 2 pro 32 mb to a geforce 3 ti-200 my 3d mark 2001 gained 2000 points with the upgrade ... definately worth it ( I got the card for 99 bux on sale the day after thanksgiving in the U.S... great bargain)

Don't worry!!! Your computer can handle the GeForce3 Ti500 unless you want to run games at 640*480 where the processor affects the games the most. But then again, then you negate the reason to get a GeForce3 Ti500. I would get the GeForce3 Ti500 with your P3. Don't worry about the performance at the lower resolutions, all you want is at least 1024*768*32-bits.
