What about 6200 64bit? Haven't seen or heard anything about that. If it does exist, btw, it likely would be called 6200le.

Maxtor disgraces the six letters that make Matrox.

Though GeForce 6200 is quite good, I will say F~U~C~K YOU, NVIDIA. For two reasons:-

1) 64 bit memory version of this card
2) No AGP version

When almost no gamer has mobo with PCI express slot, then where's the point of releasing only PCI express version?

Well, at least the card will be sold as entry-level and can actually PLAY DOOM III appropriately. Will easily handle High 640*480, which is still a step up.

I hope that card could reach OEM PCs for me to sell some more happily, but bah, can't expect that. Prolly not even the 64-bit version.

I mean, after all, our strongest OEM PC is the HP with the X300SE...

Now they'll make a market for every kind of person, hence the amount of cards.
Yeah, the geForce Outcast, the geForce Gangsta, the geForce Ebonix, rather than the amount of different suffixes to the current models.

Yeah, that's great and all, but whatever happened to the days of good cheap $50 video cards? Back in the day, you could buy a brand new Geforce2 Mx 32mb that would offer nearly the Quaking performance of a Geforce2 GTS or Radeon 64mb for 1/6 the price!

Nowadays you pay $100-150 for barebones stripped cards :(

Anything below a 6600 is most likely worthless. I mean, a 64 bit version is crap. Kind of like a FX 5200. Probably the best bargain soon will be the 6600GT for $199.

For the average gamer, you're thinking the wrong way though. A lot of consumers are going to end up with barebones graphics that can't even be considered playable, like the RS300 or GMA900. Read the reviews, the 6200 may not be the fastest, but it's certainly quicker than a Ti4600 which by all standards was a very fast card for the time. Especially if the market drives the 6200 down to $99 or even below. You can get Fx5200 ultra cards fo $60 which isn't a horrible deal considering its price.

Just don't expect either of them to do any more than 800x600 in most games.

Worthless? I wouldn't say so, Dave...

The 6200 128-bit looks to be a nice match for the 9600 PRO, which I certainly wouldn't consider worthless. Quite a welcome entry for Nvidia in the low price range, where honestly, they had absolutely nothing to buy compared to the 9600s, 9550s, and even 128-bit X300s out there.

Quetzacoatl, I'd be surprised if a 128-bit 6200 could beat a Ti4600. I imagine the 6200 is a bit below the mark still, certainly close, but not surpassing it I think.
Still, quite a compelling point you have that the bottom line 6200 is even in the same league as the Ti4600.

Sorry I came across that way. The 6200 is a LOT better than integrated graphics. I said it was worthless for a person that wants to play games at 1280*1024 with high quality. You can play Doom3 with a 6200, its just going to be 800*600 medium quality or so. There may be a market for it, but any person that knows computers, knows "you get what you pay for." And for $99, how much performance can you get. A few years I got a GeForce4 Ti 4200, for $169. Now after almost 2 years, I am still using the same card. I dished out some money and I got a pretty decent card that can still play today's games. You could either spend the money and get a decent card that will last you a few years, or get a cheap card and upgrade it every 6 months when a new game comes out that you can't play. I would personally would just buy a decent card to begin with. Just my two sense.

The FX5200Ultra, where does its performance stand against the Ti4600?

I'm asking this because I can't help but feel the 6200's not that far better than the 5200 Ultra. Of course I could be wrong, I'm forgetting most of the cards' performances lately.

Heck what happened to the days we had high end cards that didn't cost more than 400$?

It's crazy man!
