Hello
Im building a new rig (my old pc passed away recently :'( ...) and I almost have all the parts, but the gpu. Im not too demanding when it comes to graphics quality on games, and i use to play at 1366x768 res. Im on a tight budget and I had thought about getting a hd5750, or maybe a hd4850 which are not expensive and still do their job, when i have the cash later this year. Though yesterday i found a good deal on a new 9800gt at almost *half* the price of the ones above.
My question is, for a 45% price reduction, how much would i be giving away on processing power? (I dont mind it wont do dx11 or play Crysis at Very High).
Help appreciated!

Solution
its not a bad gpu, approximately the same performance as a 5670. You could find a gts250 which is a bit better and is more on par with gts450 and 5750.
Thanks for the replies. I have an i3-2100, on an Asus p8h67 mobo. No Sli on this one... :/ I'm still to purchase the PSU - im choosing among some good quality 450-500w ones, so there should be no problems.
I heard they have heat issues, any special considerations on that?

This topic is OLD....But.

I play games like BF3, Metro Last Light, Crysis 2 - all that good stuff on medium settings with my 9800GT 512MB Eco Friendly version. The Eco Friendly version didn't include a 6-pin power connector. It's needless to say that overclocking isn't an option. Surprisingly enough I could play ANY game I wanted besides one... The Witcher 2. Even on the lowest settings but at native resolution, I could not get acceptable FPS.

This GPU has lasted me around 3 years and has done absolutely great. Plays pretty much all games on max detail made before 2009 with the exception of GTA IV. Crysis ran perfectly fine on medium. I'm finally upgrading to either a GTX 770 or 780 though.
