Hi all,

I'm trying to figure out which GPU to choose from. I'm fairly limited as i have Small Form Factor (SFF) with a limited powersupply.. (no more than around 300w).

Based on my own 'research' I've managed to single it down to two (I have also provided links for interest and "verification" on your part).

1) EVGA GeForce GT 740 2GB GDDR5 128bit
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00TB8XQUI/ref=psdc_284822_t3_B00L5GZG5C

or

2) OEM GeForce 745 GTX 4GB GDDR3

or this which might be worth mentioning..

GeForce GTX750 Ti OC Slim 2GB

I haven't explored Radeon as i'm not familiar with them.

My specs on the PC are :
Intel Core 2 Quad Q9650 3GHz
8GB Ram Dual (4gb x2)

Thanks for you're help in advanced.

taking the GTX750 out of the question... would the740 succeed because its DDR5?

if you have a SFF then you need something like this:

single slot low profile, 750 ti

the ribbon is important because you might need to also install the low height front bracket

14-127-836-TS

the 3 options i have listed would be used low profile but its a question of which one...

of the three choices, the 750 ti easily

the other 2 are only viable if your monitor is 720p or lower

and which one out of the 740 or 745 GTX?

oh no, i just checked my PSU and its only 240w.. its because its the HP elite 8000... i might need to cut my loss and go for the GT740

just read an amazon review..

"Absolutely amazing. I'm running this card in a SFF desktop with only a 240 Watt PSU. I have been doing this for a couple months with no issues what-so-ever. If you don't know what you are doing and are going to take this approach, just be sure you minimize the devices powered by your machine. I would highly recommend this looking for a low profile card capable of delivering the best graphics you can possibly get from a low PSU restriction.

I'm getting 60 FPS on a 1600 x 900 monitor (NOT 1080p) with max settings on the following:

Skyrim with the HD texture pack, way too many mods...
Oblivion, agian with way to many mods
Morrowind with the Graphics and Sound Overhaul running at max (This one is awesome)
The Elder Scrolls Online, but god this game blows
Diablo 3
Torchlight 2
Far Cry 3, some random drops around 40 FPS, not sure whats happening here, but doesn't really affect gameplay
Goat Simulator 2014
Sid Meier's Civilization 5 (and all previous versions)"

But he does not have a 95w cpu like you do. He has a hp 8300 which is modern lower power ib cpus. Idk which cpu he has but even a i7 3770 is lower power. He has enough room on the psu to use it. Also 240w psus are not all the same. Check the amps on the 12v. With your cpu and that psu, I wouldn't go much more than a 730.

i might be able to get away with 350w?

or the 400w

both measurements say it fits.. would just need to do a bit of diy to fix it to the casing..
