I would like to know what a GeForce GTS 250 1GB is capable of. Some people say it really sucks and can barely play Runescape. Other's say it's great and can handle games such as Crysis Warhead on max, GTA4, etc, even next-gen games.

This is the computer I plan on getting; http://ibuypower.com/Store/Configurators.aspx?mid=69

w/ 500GB hard drive added, and the Quiet and Overclocking Proof Fan & Heatsink.

+if your familiar with ibuypower, is it reliable? I don't want to get it and it to having missing stuff etc.

Thanks, please post.

i thought the GTS 250 aka the 9800GTX+ was better than the 8800GTS. And i thought it was only the 8800GTX and the ultra that were better. But those aren't on the market anymore and they wouldn't perform well in new games because they are getting outdates and their drivers aren't being updated?
But for Crysis yeah i am unsatisfied, would need something liek a ATI 4890 but then that costs alot more. Or Nvidia equivilant, i would like 2 ATI 4890s though to be honest. In a way i am really happy about my XFX GTS 250, it is actually a really small card, compared to all of the cards above it, it basicly is the 9800gtx+ put onto a smaller board, and with one pci power connector should be PSU friendly. It's a sensible gpu as well, while gaming...
5750 is basically a 4850. You're better off using the $160 in your budget to get a 4870.

And why is the RAM so overpriced? $110 for 4GB? That's more than DDR3 prices!
Microcenter & Newegg has 4GB of OCZ DDR2 800 for about $70.

If you're wiling to install RAM yourself, get the minimum amount of RAM on the website, buy RAM elsewhere and install it.

i have a bfg gts 250 512 meg got it for $109 at tiger direct with free cod 4 and love it plays everything i want and they are great on power no need for a very lard psu, crysis on 1680 x 1050 most settings on max and get great game play and by the way bfg has got lifetime warranty and a 100 day trade up, i have only an amd x2 64 6000 4 gig ram and xp 64 ,i cant complain about anything and i can even sli it if i need because its so cheep but right now no need to,it would scream in sli very cheep with free game also..no dx 11 but who cares for now ,ill wait till prices come way down on dx 11 cards and they have enuff games to warrant a dx 11 card i would say go for the 512 model save some cash and if you got an sli board then maybe another later if there isnt any dx 11 games out by the time you need more power by then 250 will be way cheeper and allmost double your dx9 and 10 power..
just my opinion im 41 and been gaming for 15 years

hey guys could anyone tell me some normal gpu core temps for this card?

I have an evga gts250 and its idling around 42degrees, and maxed out at 68 when I was simply playing cs:source (although average fps at max everytrhing is 270)

68 seems awefullly high to me :X

Hmm okay well then I'm considering building my own computer. Could you guys give me the exact same specs I gave you from the previous link but from newegg? I want to see how much cheaper it is.

Keep in mind if theres any deals make sure to put them in. I don't mind spending $20 or $50 more on something that would help me out a lot.

Thanks.

Oh and its 1.1 thousand dollars. not 1 thousand.

I had an EVGA 8800GT.Just bought a PNYGTS250.personaly,I can tell a huge difference in Graphics.Crysis,
is the game that basicaly will eat any card.I can run everything On High and It is very stable.I had a 256 card before and went to the 8800gt.I could tell a mild difference in Graphices improvement. But when I went to GTS250,I was so Impressed to say the least. The fan in the card gets a workout, doesnt do it on any other games,or programs.I was concerned about it so I called PNY. I registerd the card and kept my receipt. That gives me a 5 year warranty!A no brainer if u want to see awsome graphics. I have a pentium Quadcore,2GRAM, 700
Watt PWR supply. If u buy this card u should be more than satisfied. Also my montors native res is 1900X1200,
which is actualy a little better than 1080p.............PNY is a nice product:)
