Hi everyone.

I just upgraded my GeForce GTS 450 to a Geforce GTX 1050 ti. While installing the hardware, I noticed the 1050 doesn't have a PCI E slot. I read on another thread that you can plug the PCI E cord into the mobo, but i don't see a spot for it... Is there some sort of adapter to plug it in somewhere or am I just nooby? Here's some specs if it helps:

OS: Windows 7
Mobo: MSI 970A G45
CPU: AMD 6 core processor
PSU: TR2 RX 750W
8GB DDR3 RAM

I tried booting it without plugging in the pci e cord, and all I got was a black screen. Thanks for reading and any help would be appreciated :)

So I don't have to plug in my 6 pin PCIE cord? If that's the case, it still doesn't explain why I'm getting a black screen with an underscore when i try and boot up my pc... It works fine with the old GPU though.

You didn't specify exactly WHICH 1050ti card you got. It might have a requirement for supplemental power, but I can't look it up because you didn't identify exactly which card you have.

Ah, sorry about that. It's a Gigabyte one.

In the meantime, I'm going to update my Bios and see if that helps.

I downloaded the newest file to an empty flashdrive, but my Bios doesn't seem to recognize the file. It keeps saying "There isn't any BIOS file in this USB key(root folder). Please copy BIOS file to this USB key(root folder)". The weird thing is, the file is there.

I already extracted it with Winrar. It's called E7693AMS.280
The file is in the root directory of my flash drive, and it's the only file on there. So the path reads, Computer/USB20FD/E7693AMS.280.
I made sure it was plugged in, opened Bios, and selected "Select one file to update BIOS", and says there's nothing there. So I tried to redownload the file, and the same thing happened.

I have no idea what I did wrong last night, but I re-tried updating Bios after getting home from work and it flashed fine. And now, MY PC BOOTS WITH THE NEW GPU! Im currently installing the new driver. At first I thought it was a piwer supply issue, but after doing research it looks like the 1050 ti gets its power from the pcie slot without needing external power.
Thanks everyone for helping a noob :)
