Still using rather ancient cards by today's standards and left with not very many upgrade options on the green side. A gtx460 256bit, two gtx280, and two 9800gt. I won't be buying Kepler that is certain, maybe next year when money isn't as tight I'll buy up a GCN based card that is worth buying unless Radeon 8 is really nice which it should be :)

[citation][nom]verbalizer[/nom]GPGPU = Kepler = FAIL....that's depressing but I understand nVidia has designated GTX 6 series as a gaming cards but c'mon SON.!!!ridiculous once again..[/citation]
Although NVIDIA has never been close to optimized for compute applications, CUDA makes a huge difference in the modeling and design programs that take advantage of it. Seems like a balanced market overall.

The HardwareSecrets review also showed the GTX660Ti performing generally better than the HD7870, however they didn't include all the GPGPU tests.
If some killer titles come out that use more OpenCL features, people that bought this card will rage. If you're building for future-resistance, this is not the card to get.
There's nothing compelling about it, especially at $300.

back to ye olde nvidia, overpriced carp.

7950 now looking like a sexy beast.

It's good now AMD's prices have settled down after they got the jump on nvidia for release.

Question is why they didn't do that to start with, and why NVidia are not trying to compete, given their overinflated fps scores and cheap components, they could undercut AMD out of the market.

And where's the 650? Will there be one? I'd rather get a card that requires only one auxiliary power connector... or if possible none.

[citation][nom]lpedraja2002[/nom]Whoa, these result are way different from Anandtech's website, who am I supposed to believe?[/citation]
I run across this often, and you unfortunately have to read the 'fine print' (settings, resolutions, drivers, etc) and look at MULTIPLE reviews to see and know the truth.

I hope this prompts AMD to cut the price of the 7950 to be a little more competative. I've wanted to get one but my wife isn't excited about me spending quite that much on a card. Even if it was 50 bucks less I would be able to swing it.

[citation][nom]rmpumper[/nom]That's strange - on techpowerup review the 660Ti is above 7950's average performance.[/citation]
Overclocked is, but not stock clocked one. My guess is that you read wrong article there.

But Stock GTX 660 Ti beats Stock HD7870 in every game on Techpowerup/Anandtech review.

At $250 this would be a great card! At $300 it is an Ok card...
SLI seems promising though... I wonder which wins, 3X GTX 660 Ti or a single GTX 690?

7950 + MIR is about the same cost of a 660ti.
7870 + MIR is less than the cost of a 66ti.

The bandwidth gimp on the 660ti is a turn off for me. I have 560s in SLI and I have real problems with max AA. I'd like to be excited about the 660 ti but I can say that I would pick one up over a 7950 and I'd gladly go cheaper with a 7870 and pocket the savings for some good beer.

This sums it up for me: http://www.anandtech.com/show/6159/the-geforce-gtx-660-ti-review/21

If we had to pick something, on a pure performance-per-dollar basis the 7950 looks good both now and in the future; in particular we suspect it’s going to weather newer games better than the GTX 660 Ti and its relatively narrow memory bus.

Sorry, but best I can tell the HD7950 has quite a sweet spot at $330 or so. It looks like the HD7870 is going to settle $270-$280, and puts quite a squeeze on the 660ti

No. It does not. At TechPU, I see a Zoltac 660ti at 1033/1652 MHz (stock 915/1500MHz) against a HD7950 800/1250MHz ...

when folks are hitting 1000/1400MHz routinely on HD7950s. TechPU is running OC'ed apples against stock-clock oranges -- same with Anand.

Anand has a history of pulling this same *Factory OC'ed Vs. Stock Card* crap, too.

Sorry. Toms hammered this one. I generally like TechPU, but they pulled an Anand on this review.

haha that interesting as even nVidia didn't put gtx660ti that highin it's ad's materials.
