Hi. I have 1000$ for a gaming only system - minus a gpu.
My options are:
  1. Auros z490 elite + 10600k
  2. Auros x570 pro + 3600x

My only reason for going for the amd option is the m.2 4gen slots.
I really can't decide between the two.

Cheers.

Gen 4 PCIE offer higher bandwith, almost double from Gen 3. Basically for GPU it will increse the FPS, and for SSD you will get higher data transmission. As long as the hardware already support Gen 4 PCIE. The only reason to buy that because it's will be future proof.
why not a 3700x + a B550/B450 Max? should be roughly the same
or a 3600X + a B550/B450 Max and an even better GPU?

tough to say when PCIe4 will become relevant. I'd say the soonest in late 2021 for top line GPUs.
for SSDs NVMe as it stands yields no real benefits so far over SATA for gaming builds
