Question Gen4 NVMe in PCIe x 16 Adapter

I have an Asrock Z370 with only PCIe 3.0 x4 M.2 slots. Will I be able to get more speed for a Gen4 drive from a PCIe 3 x 16 expansion card?

The PCIe 3.0 x16 host bus interface and x16 PCIe bridge provide four lanes of bandwidth to each installed SSD for maximum performance. Sustained data transfer speeds in RAID 0 can reach up to 11,700 MB/s.

It looks like each ssd still only get x4 so it would not be faster then what you already have unless you did raid.

From what I see the adaptors work on x16 but only do x4 per drive, but it is possible better options are available that I am missing.

Anyone is welcome to correct me if I am wrong but this is what I found in my research.

Ah makes sense. I wonder if I can just raid with the 2 M.2 slots there are on the mobo. It only says raid for sata.

RAID is almost universally a poor idea except for very specific situations.
