What the lowest price people are getting for a (pre-owned)Mac Desktop with Intel? Also what apps or programs are Only Available for Intel?
The temptation to pick up a top of the line IBM chipped G5 is pretty intense but it is for a Graphic artist, and need to know if there would be software shutouts without Intel.

Solution
Personally I would stick to an intel based Mac... I don't know specifically about graphics editing etc. but I do know that the older IBM chipped Mac's are not supported very much anymore, if at all. If its really cheap go for it, but I wouldn't invest too much into it. All the latest software is Intel only. Since your talking about a desktop I'm not as prepared to outright say "STAY AWAY"; however if you were talking about a portable Mac I would definitely stay away from the pre-intel iterations. Personally I would stay away from them on a desktop as well; however I think an older desktop Mac is still workable albeit I wouldnt spend top dollar for it.

These are just my opinions. I have a 2010 Macbook pro but I used to work with iMacs...

These are just my opinions. I have a 2010 Macbook pro but I used to work with iMacs and full fledged Mac Desktops many years back for video editing. Nowadays I have a Windows 7 Desktop and a Intel Macbook Pro but I don't do much graphics/video editing anymore.

This site is really useful for deciding when a good time to buy a Mac is... new or used...

its alway best to buy an apple product either the latest released or one of its predecessors right after a new product is released in the line because either you get the newer one for the same price you would have bought the old one for or you get the older one for cheaper.

Solution
Check out the apple store under refurbished products or other apple websites.I saw a G5 for $450.00
