Hi guys, the question hasn't been asked before, but close answers are given but always against each other.
I'm about to buy this desktop but I need to know if the things people are saying here are true since I discovered people here generally are misusing the term SFF and MT.

To be clear I want to buy the mt version 6300 HP Compaq pro.

This seems to be the spec sheet.

https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03382665

First : there are people complaining about the size of the GPU they use a small GPU in order to not touch the fan of the cpu. However if I take a look at the spec sheet the size seems to be mismatching only 0.3 inch..
I guess the touching the fan of the cpu might be only applicable for SSF?
I'd like to know this before buying a video card..

Secondly: Also the PSU might be not a sufficient supply for let's say a 1080 GTX.
However the HP power supply isn't changeable according to people here, well I'd like to know what your opinion is on that.
The thing is I found this website where two solutions are proposed by different people so I guess it is possible? Maybe you guys could tell me if it could be true..

https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/902466-how-to-upgrade-hp-pro-6300-power-supply-fix/

Thanks

EDIT: I guess 90% sure that I figured out the size of the 6300 mt is really really small to put a big graphics card in it..

So that brings me to another question what is a good pre built PC like for instance HP/DELL OPTIPLEX 3020/7010. I like to have a i5- 3470 in it at least and it would be nice if a full GPU could fit and also PSU could be changed easily 😉

Thanks !

Solution
Actually, touching the cpu fan in the sff is not a big problem, it is the fan shroud. But you can't really put any huge cards in anyways the pci x16 slot has a 25w power limit. The microtower has a 75 w limit on its pci x16 slot so you DEFINITELY cannot put in a gtx 1080 ti. Also, the physical size of it is too big.
As for good prebuilt, it depends on what for. for gaming, just get an octiplex and put in a good graphics card, but i dont know much about prebuilts, just compaqs. btw, I have seen people put evga 430w psus in the 6300 mt.

Got some tips on the 3500 mt series? Since I bought this one in the end and you seem to have experience with it. Btw thanks for the good reply!

personally, I really only know stuff about the 6300 because I myself have a 6300 small form factor but here's a video from a guy that I have relied on:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BCmYTXWKKlQ
It seems you can replace the psu with this one, so nice pick.
It probably takes atx psus, so you will be able to use EVGA superNOVA psus, which is great because they are great psus.
as for upgrading ram, Get DDR3 ram, as the 3500 takes ddr3.
I highly reccomend getting an ssd. It may be pricey, but it enhances your startup time a lot. If you decide to get one, go for this:
https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820147674 Samsung is best brand for ssds.
make sure you plug the ssd into the sata III slot and not sata II because sata II is much slower. (ask me if you don't know the difference)
NOW FOR THE PART YOU HAVE DEFINITELY BEEN WAITING FOR: VIDEO CARD
The guy in the video uses a gtx 750 which leads me to believe that your pc has a 75w power limit on its pci x16 slot.
So here's what I reccomend: get a gtx 1050 ti. You might need a smaller version ( single fan).

DO NOT GET A GRAPHICS CARD OF A BRAND OTHER THAN EVGA.
If you want an amd graphics card, then get a small rx 480. They work too.
MAKE SURE YOU WATCH THE VIDEO BEFORE BUYING YOUR STUFF.
