It's too bad they don't have the ASUS R9600XT near you because it is showing up now with the 2.86ns memory which is nice of them

I would probably buy that card if it was available to me...but it aint.

I Bold for the pun impaired.

I would've loved to have seen you with an R9600XT just to see the diffs between our two. But with the FX5700U it gives some interesting architecture differences (although I expect to lose alot more benchies this time around

). And if some people's early assumptions are correct, the architecture may be improved over the other FXs (although that still seems unlikely to me, but who knows).

Right now it's too close to the new cards. I can't wait for the new year and some new toys to look at/shop for. I would like to see a little more pre-release news though. IT seems to have quieted down alot since the Intel Expo. I'm worried!

Well at least now we'll have an FX user I can count on to balance the force. :tongue:

Will do. I'm gonna make him super angry and trained in karate so he can kick arse and get into buildings (also knows how ot use ninja ropes!!). I've modified him so he can change skin colors to camoflage- this you will recall is an upgrade over mojo. I will expose him this time to more anti-Ati stuff, let's hope he does the right thing!

Well, the card has a totally re designed vertex engine which gives it a real speed boost. Also, previously ultra shadow was only available on the high end cards, and this card has it(yea..I'm still waiting for D3) But the real selling point for me was the ddr2 memory, it's such a novelty. I just think this would be a really neat card to have.

Yeah, the Vertex engine in the FXs though was always pretty good (heck look at X2 which focuses on VS 2.0 as it's DX9 feature to see their power there) it's still the PS 2.0 perfromance that worries me.

But the real selling point for me was the ddr2 memory, it's such a novelty. I just think this would be a really neat card to have.

If you want some novelty, check out the PowerColor R9600XT BRAVO when it comes out.
If you remember <A HREF="http://forumz.tomshardware.com/hardware/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&p=376042#376042" target="_new">this thread</A> of yours, you'll remember the BRAVO. I posted <A HREF="http://www.xbitlabs.com/news/video/display/20031030080503.html" target="_new">this link</A> to it's specs. I think that was likely a simialr DDRII board or it could be some of the 2.5ns SAMSUNG we are now seeing out there. Either way it should be a pretty smoking fast card, and make up for alot of the diff. with the FX5700U in high res.

I still don't like the fact that it's PowerColor though. I just wish it was Hercules, ASUS, or the Sapphire Fireblade edition that was doing this, and not a notoriously iffy mfr.

Just be sure to get the FX5700U wih the nice looking HSF, because I'd sure hate to see you rip-off an ugly one once your start tweaking! 😎

There aren't enough 'common-ground' points for the R9600P vs FX5700U. I would expect very few wins, especially since I see a few mods in his FX's future. None the less there will be obvious.. umm... 'talking points' that may beed to be eplored/exploited.

That is until the R42X/RV380 cards arrive. :evil:
