i am really interested as a genuine windows 7 owner how much Microsoft are going to offer this to pirates so they "get genuine"

You can buy Windows 10 (pre order for £99) so why should non legitimate pirates get this cheaper. Apparently they will be offered an "attractive Windows 10 upgrade" i'm really confused and frustraited. Pee's me off tbh.

The way I read it is:
IF you have an OEM system (Dell or whoever),
And IF (for whatever reason) your OS is now 'not valid',
And IF you go through the OEM (Dell or whoever),
You may get the opportunity to buy it again, at a somewhat reduced price.

Not for your average pirate.

How would a normal Dell get a pirated OS when it came with a valid OEM version?
It breaks, and you take it down to "Joe's PC Repair", and the monkey in the back room installs a pirated OS, and only charges you $30.

I understand that. i think you are missing my point mate.

Microsoft is planning a very attractive Windows 10 upgrade offer for non legit versions post upgrade to make it 'legit' - i'm taking the word 'attractive' as being less than a normal cost! - any thoughts?

http://www.digitaltrends.com/computing/microsoft-hopes-to-lure-non-genuine-users-with-a-flashy-windows-10-upgrade/

Microsoft’s Terry Myerson wrote that the company will be releasing a “very attractive” Windows 10 upgrade offer to those running older devices in a “non-genuine” state.

Right, I saw a similar.
http://blogs.windows.com/bloggingwindows/2015/05/15/genuine-windows-and-windows-10/

So, apparently this relates to a PC that should have an OEM version (Dell, for instance). And you have to go through Dell to do this.

"In addition, in partnership with some of our valued OEM partners, we are planning very attractive Windows 10 upgrade offers for their customers running one of their older devices in a Non-Genuine state. Please stay tuned to learn more from our partners on the specifics of their offers."

Not for your normal pirate type, that builds a custom system and cheaps out on the OS.

But, I see nothing else on this since May, so who knows.
