I tried using the news & weather widget for weather in Windows 10.
The problem is that the thing never or rarely refreshes automatically so to see what temperature it is outside you have to open he widget, watch it animate, wait for the news feed to load, click refresh, wait for the news feed to load again, then either close the widget and wait for the animation again.
Unless you want the full forecast, then you have to find and click the weather widget in the feed, wait for IE to open, click through the IE ads and attempts to trick you into enabling ad tracking and override your default browser, then load a third MSN news feed with some poorly presented weather in the corner, surrounded by the obnoxious clickbait ads that they call "news".
There's no way to configure any of this into doing something useful or convenient.
Overall an awful and offputting ecosystem, but a a minor symptom of what's fundamentally wrong with Windows right now.
