Hello, so I need a new psu and I have been recommended an antec, modular 620w power supply. (High current gamer.) I am not very familiar with this brand and I was wondering whether there would be a significant difference between it and a cx600m (Corsair). I am very familiar with corsair and know that their products are very good quality, so I am not sure which one I should get.

Thanks, Matt.

Both are good quality PSUs. The EVGA though is a bit better quality and a bit more convenient. Trust me, once you go fully modular you will never go back.
The Corsair CX series is notoriously poor quality here on this site we are diagnosing issues with them every single day. The Antec High Current Gamer is a Tier 2 PSU, one of the best. The difference in reliability between these two is like comparing a Honda (Antec) to a Yugo (Corsair).

That is VERY surprising why is that the case, I thought Corsair was supposed to be good quality. 🙁

They generally are, just the CX and equivalent VS series are very poor quality. They may well work fine for a non gaming machine, but when pushed even a little they cause all sorts of problems.

The CX series is a entry level PSU. I can say that I have had very little problems with them and I installed them on hundreds of PCs as replacements for crappy OEM PSUs and new build, even gaming builds.

I personally though would not use them in overly high stress situations, especially if you are getting the minimum PSU specs for your setup and plan to game. Any entry level PSU from any company will not last as long when stressed higher.

If anything what maters is how much you are willing to spend on the PSU as there might be better options available for the price.

Ok, thankyou for the help, I was going to get the Corsair, im glad I asked :)

Corsair
CX / CXM Channel Well Technology

As per the PSU tier list the CX/CXM is not Seasonic. Based on the fact we get folks with problems with the CX series here daily I would tend to agree with the list.

I agree the EVGA you suggest is the best you can go, but the Antec he selected is Tier 2, so he should have no issues buying it.

for my gpu, I use a 6 pin, for my cpu cooler I use a 4 pin, for my hdd I use sata and for my mobo, not sure if this is standard, but I use a 24 pin. would the evga have the cables to do this?

Both the EVGA and the Antec you already selected have all the cables you need. The EVGA is nicer in that its fully modular so you can remove the cables you don't need.

That is standard. The EVGA is better since it is modular so you only use the cables you need to it makes it much cleaner and as said before it is Gold rated so it will be more efficient.

So basically, 24 pin, 4 pin, 6 pin and the sata, and thats it?

If that is what you need, correct. It will have more than enough cables for what you need.

Your motherboard would have a 24 pin and should need an additional 4 or 8 pin for the processor. Then this PSU has the 6/8 pin for your GPU and a number of SATA and 4 pin cables for drives and accessories. They come on some seperate cables so you can remove what you don't need.

6+2 and 8 are the same thing, the cable set lets you pop off the extra 2 pins if they are not needed. But yeah you are more than covered.

Yeah I know, I was just stating the ones which would come in use.

Thanks for your help, I will be getting the EVGA one, I hope I am making the right choice by not going with the Antec one.

You are, EVGA is the best
