well i was playing counter strike for around 40min and i got artifacts and had to restart my pc, now im sure my temps are low and good so why do i get them, Could my video card be screwed up? but i wouldnt think so as i can run left 4 dead, team fortress 2 for couple of hours and everything is fine ????? im confused and its annoying me and im getting mad :fou:

any help would be appreciated i will play left 4 dead or team fortress again to check and make sure it does not do it in those games,

Full specs please.

Get hw monitor, prime 95 and furmark. Use hw monitor to monitor the temps while you run furmark and prime 95 to stress out your system and pump out a ton of heat, if your temps stay reasonable and you still get artifacts it may be a power issue, but my bet is on over heating.

alright i got hwmontior and how long should i run furmark and could it be because of the vsync, that i get to many frames and they screw up but that wouldnt make sense as it would of done it before 40 min, and i have my graphic card fan running at 80% when gaming but ill run that furmark and tell u how it goes

specs

amd phenom 2 x2 550 at 3.1ghz with titan nk85tz heatsink
4gb of ram
gigabyte ma ga790x ud4p motherboard
xfx hd4850 1gb graphic card
anyting else ?

Possible reasons of artifacts : Overheating, corrupt memory (bad video memory, bad ram or bad pagefile), bad psu, driver issues. Try to find out the culprit, using different ram sticks, different hdd or psu.

airflow is to the max man everything is good im guessing its the graphic card, but that wouldnt matter as while gaming the max it got was 56 so thats all good. and counter strike source graphics are basically suck i mean crysis ran all good. i doubt its the ram as if it was im pretty sure the pc wouldnt boot up correctly.

i got a antec 300 case got 2 fans in front intake and 1 on the side intake and 1 on the back exhaust and one on the top exhaust

all are 120mm except the one on the top which is a 140 mm

its either the game or graphic card in my opinion or could of been the drivers as i played it again with the updated drivers and didnt get a problem so idk

but ill run my test with the same settins as u did and ill tell u wat my temps reach and was the fan on full or what % was it set on ??

i have it on auto when im just searching the web listing to music and things like that when i game i have it at 80% so that it does not get to hot and 80% its still quiet so thats the max im willing to go so yeah. ill try it on auto and compare the temps but i think they should be baout the same

Wow, if 80% is quiet to you, there must be a tornado din emanating from your case, lol. If I turn up the fan on my 4870 512 past 45%, it gets louder than my case fans. But I game on headphones, and only use the 2.1 to play music while cleaning or futzing around the house. With that sort of case ventilation, I can't imagine you needing it that high, but of course, if it doesn't get loud until after 80, why not, right?

yeah 80% is really quiet i mean like when i turn it to 80 u here it but its very soft basicaly it is quiet at 80 and my whole case is really quiet but wen i game i turn up everything so it has good airflow and cooling. the reason i have it at 80 is cuz my temps dont go past 60 in games, sometimes depends wat game it is it will get to 62 for the max or so and then drop it usually is in the 50 s. ima try today on auto and see what i get for my temps.

Thats usually just caused by steam doing stupid stuff. You may need to delete the blob file and let it redownload it, i know i had to do that a couple of times on my old machine. Your graphics card wont cause crazy error messages from steam games, thats just steams fault unfortunately.
