I have installed SUS 1.0 with SP1. I have synchronized the English
local, and I have approved the items in the new list that apply to
Windows server and WinXP-SP1. What I can't see is how to tell the
client computers to go to the SUS server instead of Windows Update at
Microsoft, which they currently do. The system properties only deal
with the schedule, not the source.

Hi Hollis.

If you are in an AD domain take a look at the link below as an example on how to use
Group Policy to configure client computers for use with SUS on the network. The
second link is to a KB to also describes how to modify the registry of client
computers to access a SUS server. --- Steve

Thanks Steve. I struggled through the deployment guide directions, and then checked
with your page. I chose everything you did. It's nice to have instant confirmation.

I was originally confused by the fact that there were so many items. I downloaded
ADM package and imported them. However, I got an error message saying they did not
load. But, there were two of everything till I deleted the ones I had imported.
Makes one wonder, a bit, about the working of the GPEditor.

Glad you got it to work. There is also a very active newsgroup
Microsoft.public.softwareupdatesvcs if you have more question in the future. ---
