Getting GTX 970 vs GTX 1070

Im wondering if i should get an GTX 970 with Factory OC along with my old Intel i7 2600 or get the GTX 1070 on the day it releases. Is it worth the extra 100 dollars there charing for the GTX 1070 or should a just get a really good GTX 970.

I do belive theres already some companys whos got there hands on GTX 1070 for the purpose of benchmarks before realese.

All the more reason to wait.
Even if select members of the community got cards early there is no way to confirm their "results". Once it hits retail there will be solid information.

Cool, but you are right, I think toms hardware is more reliable than other sources. But then again, wait for users to bench i, Toms benchmarks stuff with high end parts and so do other places

a 1070 is leagues ahead of a 970. i broke down the numbers in the mega thread http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-3047729/nvidia-geforce-gtx-1000-series-megathread-faq-resources.html

a 1070 is a good 60%+ better than a 970. various resolutions referenced in the thread i linked. all news and benchmarks i find go here. tom's did not test a 970 with it but a bunch of others did.

no problem. as you can see the thread is pretty comprehensive and will stay up to date with specs, reviews, rumors and anything else of note. folks drop by all day sharing a new review or video or whatever they find. check back as 1070's get released for details about cards like the 1080 ones have. just nothing available yet other than the few founders editions i linked.

but based on last night's amd presentation and the rumor mill for them the 480 may well be a better deal. seems to be better than a 980 and will run $200-250!! only rumor and speculation but it is worth waiting for the end of the month to see if this holds up. will make the price of a 1070 drop more than likely if this is true.
