Getting problems with the new upgraded pc on games, sudden fps drop etc

Hi guys, I've just finished upgrading my pc today, with a brand new gtx980 g1 gaming, i74790k and z97 gaming 5 motherboard. I spotted a issue when I was running far cry 4, where I was getting sudden fps drops (it would drop from say, 70fps to 40 or 50 fps for a split second) And this causes laggy graphics in-game.

At first, I thought this was due to in-game bugs or glitches. However when I tried to play far cry 3 (my old 680 and 3770k was running smooth and never lags) the same thing happened again. My friend told me that my psu unit isn't powerful enough, that's why I'm getting these issues, I'm currently running my system on a coolermaster extreme2 725w PSU. Which when I asked on the forum previously, was told enough for the build.

I am very new to building PCs and I did build all these stuff by myself today, I was very scrupulous with my components and I don't think I've damaged any of them through electric charge etc. However I will take this into account, in case I did have a problem while building it.

I do have 1 external 120mm fan and a H80i cooling unit , I also experienced a much slowed booting time (from 20+sec to 50+sec on start up). The 980 is running on the newest nvidia driver.

Please help me 🙁

Honestly, I wish I had an answer for you, but that's downright odd. There shouldn't be a delay in your GPU kicking in. Have you tried doing a clean install of your Nvidia Drivers?
725W is enough for that build.

Not sure what would be causing your slower bootup time. Slower than your 3770K machine? Check your motherboard BIOS and see if Fast boot is enabled.

I'm hearing a lot about micro-stuttering in Far Cry 4, where the game will drop or freeze for a split moment before returning to normal. I'm not sure this is anything you can do, or anything wrong with your system, and you may just have to wait for a patch from Ubisoft. I've seen a suggested solution at the below link:

Hope that helps!

Hi! I've turned on my PC roughly 3 hours ago to play various other games just in case my issue was biased since far cry is a ubisoft game. I was getting a similar issue with resident evil 6, however all other games were running fine (includes BF3, crysis 2, sniper elite v2, Total war shogun 2 etc.) 15 minutes ago I decided to switch back to far cry 3 to try out my luck. And surprisingly, there were almost no lag. Tried far cry 4, the fps stuttering rarely happens even on all maxed out settings. Went back to resident evil 6, all issues were gone and the game was more than happy to stay at a solid 120fps.

I assume since I only built my pc yesterday which only allowed it to run for a few hours, maybe it wasn't fully adapting the rig? Does this happen? Do pc builders allow the finished machine to run for a extended period of time before actually start running programs on them? Sorry for so many questions, I'm still quite new to all these stuff.

And yes, the booting time went back to usual. :)

Thanks for the advice! I would keep an eye on the performance still. And see if it really worked out.

Sorry I am getting this issue again 🙁.......I have no idea what i was doing wrong

It almost felt like the PC needs warm up or something, I went through a few games and its working.......AGAIN......I have no idea why this is happening. When the problem occurs, games like far cry 3 and resident evil 6 would have random frame drop which is hell lagging and unbearable.....It's all working again. Why is this happening? What did i do wrong
