Question Getting Various BSOD's

Hello People of Tom's,

Since Saturday April 6th I have been getting blue screen of deaths including "system Service Exception", "Memory Management", "Critical Structure Corruption" and "Kernel Security Check Failure". These BSOD don't just happen when I turn my PC on but while I'm gaming. While gaming I usually have Discord, Spotify and Twitch open on my left screen and a game on my right screen (games include Fortnite, Hearthstone, Overwatch, R6 Siege). The BSOD's don't pop up right away but after an hour to a couple hours of gaming with the setup above. I am going to post my specs and mini dumps below. Any help is appreciated, Thanks!

Need to make sure its not a win 7 card rebranded. Its still possible to buy cards with win 7 drivers. I don't know enough about the subject, my motherboard has BT/WIFI built in and I hardly use either and LAN is faster.

A sign to me that a device is rebranded is if it says Works with win 10, 8. 7, XP as that makes me think its old. Most new devices wouldn't have win XP drivers written for them I think

I will research a little bit today on what I may want to buy but should I remove the dongle, uninstall the BT drivers and run driver verifier?

I need the BT more than I need the wifi. I use an eithernet connection 99.9% of the time but I like to have the option if I were to move or not have a either net connection close by.

I would, just so we can see if its only cause of BSOD, THen we will know its fixed once you replace BT/WIFI

My PC too heavy to move. MY WIFI only normally gives 25% the speed I get on LAN and both come from same router so no real point using wifi for me. I use BT for my Sennheiser PXC550 headset occasionally

I think the first file is a .INF file. Right click on it and choose properties to see if it ends with .INF in the filename (you have file extensions hidden). If so, right click on it and choose Install. If not, look through the files until you find the .INF file and then right click on it and choose Install.

I took out my bluetooth dongle and ran driver verifier. Not sure if I uninstalled the driver before hand but I couldn't find it in Device Manager. @gardenman you're right about the file in the download folder being able to be installed but Im just going to go on with out the dongle for now. I also got some BSOD after I was dont playing Fortnite, I went to click on the home button, screen flickered then went back to normal but nothing happened and none of the menus popped up. Then BOSD followed by a BSOD loop until I shut down. Got another BSOD loop while typing this the first time 😒 Dumps below:

So I could guess mouse but I not seen many mice with speakers

I did look through thread twice, 4 pages makes it hard to find if you already said it or not.

seems off to me that a 2019 driver would trip up DV.
Makes me wonder if you should run 4 more scans of each ram stick on memtest again.

It has 2 USB 3.1 inputs and a 3.5mm headset output which reads to the PC as a headset.


I will probably run mem test again then. Do i litereally just pull one of my ram stick out before I start up to test the other ram? And do I leave all 13 (i think it was that many) tests on?

Look in manual for motherboard, there is likely a slot you have to have 1 stick in or PC won't work, so its not a simple matter of removing 1 stick and trying another. Have to swap them.

Its unusual for 2019 drivers to cause bsod. Just wondering if you removed it, would something else show as a problem, and that led me to think, wonder if its ram thats causing the corruption of drivers. Most people have 1 driver that causes errors, not a series of them that seems never ending, and this is a clean install too.

Other choice is check HDD (though we may have done that already). MIght want to try Hard drive sentinel, I have heard its useful for checking hdd out. I don't have it myself but Gardenman does.

Yes ICUE runs the RGB on the headset stand and controls the audio adjusting. When I leave for the gym I will start a memtest on 1 of the modules and then the other after that test.

I currently have a drive that is going bad. I first noticed it because when I use it heavily for a few minutes, it begins the non-stop read/write 100% disk usage. The only fix is a reboot. I found Hard Drive Sentinel a few days back on a giveaway site (it's still there, do a Google search for "Hard Drive Sentinel giveaway") and it said my drive is going bad. I believe it. My test results are here. Scroll half way down the page to the big red box.

Everything is backed up on the drive so I'm prepared. I should probably go ahead and remove the drive because when it fails, it may cause BSODs.

Anyway, the software is currently free and it works for testing your drive if interested. There's other hard drive testing software too. Many recommend CrystalDiskInfo.

Funny, it told me to update OS to get better performance on ssd, that might be difficult. Seems trim is disabled, might chase that up some day.

MIght want to update BIOS to 0905 as well.

So far only other question I can't see asked was: What PSU have you got?

That last BSOD could be caused by headset stand since we had it reported already. So remove it as well and run DV and see if we can get it to stop...

I have asked for a 2nd opinion to see if there is something obvious I am missing. We been at this so long I wrote a summary of what we done so far just so I don't ask again:

Win 10 1803 fresh installed during process
CPU – I7 8700K (no OC)
INTEL test – passed
Prime 95 - passed
Motherboard - Asus Z390-A
Ram on mobo listing? No but might be alright
Not on current BIOS – 0905 is available
GPU - GTX 1080
Tried a 1070, still was getting errors. None at moment
Corsair Ram – 16gb
Memtest – passed
HDD
Tested with Sentinel, all Perfect
PSU - EVGA G2 650 watt 80+ Gold

Fixed GPU drivers a few times (lol)
Fixed scarlet crush
Fixed LAN drivers
Now reporting Corsair Headset stand drivers as problem, driver is from 2019?

Ok, so here are my findings. I unplugged my Corsair Headset stand and rand driver verifier twice. Both times I didn't get a BSOD and it would just keep going back to my ASUS startup screen then reset and then start up screen. It would reach my windows 10 log in screen and then reset itself. I went into safe mode and reset verifier through the CMD promt. I'm not entirely sure this is good news but it is something different.

It would make sense to me that this is causing the issues because like I said before I moved my BT dongle from the back of my PC to the headset stand on the day everything started acting weird.

P.S. I just updated the BIOS to the most current version

i wonder if dongle is busted or if it was headset stand the entire time? I guess all you can do is try it in another sl0t, if you haven't already. If you told me you swapped it to the stand, I missed it...

No BSOD means no drivers are bad according to DV. That is a good thing considering it felt like it would never end suggesting new ones.

Downside is no 7.1 audio through stand, upside is I dare not say... if you don't BSOD for a few days

I found plenty of cases of Icue causing BSOD but none referring to version 3.5, is that what was installed? I prefer not to have to leave it as fixed but with a non working 7.1 feature. You may need to contact Corsair - or ask on their forums: http://forum.corsair.com/v3/forumdisplay.php?f=280

I hate peripherals, my last 2 clean installs were in attempts to fix problems that ended up being things plugged into PC, not the box itself. At least we didn't take 3 months to figure it out. They are so hard to figure out compared to parts inside. One time it was speakers, last time it was my mouse.

in a way, yours is too. So far I eliminated PS controller, USB BT card and now the stand. PC itself is fine. nothing wrong with it.

Great, thanks for all of your help. For now I'm going to keep the BT dongle and headset stand unplugged for up to a week or until I get a BSOD, to see if I come across any BSOD's.
