Ok so I cloned my M.2 SSD and I want to get windows 11 at some point.

Problem is that my motherboad is legacy but it supports UEFI. So would it be fine to convert it to UEFI and just upgrade it to Windows 11? And will it detect that Windows 10 should be in the m.2 drive like how it should be when I cloned it?

Or do I have to reinstall windows 10 into UEFI, then reinstall windows 11 through the upgrade manually?

And I also don't know about this TPM 2.0 that's also needed? And I'm not sure if my Motherboard supports it.

My motherboard is Super Micro C7H270-CG-ML.

I try to think long term, I don't feel the current situation is going to last that many years.
I have a Focus+ PX 750 and I can remember last year a point it cost twice as much to replace it as I had bought it (its all hypothetical since it has a 10 year warranty) and it got to point no one had them at all. I believe I can get one now but its 8 months later.
You can't get my GPU at all in my country. But thats more NVIDIA's fault as they stopped making them before the 30 series was released.
Have new PC, don't want to play games on it in case GPU dies and you can't get a new one... no, I have no idea what you mean.

I get the concern about not knowing but we all in that boat

Support? AV? there are 3rd party AV providers still...
PTT = TPM
Platform Trust Technology is what Intel called Firmware TPM which runs from the CPU
You can't do that but...

your motherbaord has a JTPM header which means that IF you could track down the Super Micro TPM module that goes in slot it might work.
I don't know if this is the right one - https://www.supermicro.com/en/products/accessories/addon/aom-tpm-9655v.php
you might need to ask SM

If I hadn't got a new PC one year ago I would be in a position where CPU doesn't have TPM and MB doesn't even have the slot.
I get the frustration but as I keep saying, you really aren't missing anything. I wish I could show you.
Its only windows, 10 works now and has most of the features they sold 11 on
  1. DirectX 12 Ultimate - its in win 10
  2. Storage tech - its not even in 11 yet so no difference, and Windows 10 will get that too
  3. Android integration into 11 - Its not being added till next year
  4. Terminal (combines CMD & powershell into one app - its on store now for win 10 (link)
I have used it a month and I still don't know a big difference. You soon forget its even different. Its that similar.

Its not that I'm upset on this but i just know that Microsoft will force us all to jump to 11. I mean I'm still having that power settings bug and I'm sure Microsoft won't support 10 as much as they should as they will get more into 11.

And I don't know how to get a new PC..I mean I've been using my PC for more than 5 years now and its still doing solid. Sure things will eventually stop working..but the situation now is worrying as I don't know how I can get a newer PC let alone just the newer motherboard and CPU...

I can live with it...but how long till Microsoft makes the Win 11 jump?

Win 10 hasn't really been changed since 2019. Last 3 version updates just bug fixes. I can see Win 10 continuing to get those for 5 more years or so. They might add some win 11 features in as they go, I don't know.

Expects there is a thread about the bug somewhere... (he might even be in it)

Since win 10 is supported now, for 5 more years, you don't need to think about a new PC at all yet. 10 years is probably well over due for a new PC. Worry about it in a few years time.

MIcrosoft have thrown barriers up to stop people moving to 11 so I can't see them shutting gate on those who can't as its going to be a large number.

I can't see the future, I don't know if say the PSU format for the motherboard you need to use isn't 12V only which is newest standard. - https://www.tomshardware.com/news/atx12vo-12v-only-power-supplies-psus
I don't know what drives you have now or if any of the tech in these ram sticks will come across to consumer by then
RAM will be ddr 5 by then

parts will be 5 years older, they don't last forever and I have yet to have a PC where the GPU I bought for it to begin with was still being used at end.

so you could probably use storage but almost everything else will be new.

How would you feel if you bought a brand new PC and then got 11 and used it for a month and couldn't tell difference between it and 10?

I would feel that was a waste of time. And money, and you have thrown away a perfectly good working PC now just for windows.

When my vista PC couldn't run WIn 8, I never thought... I have to buy a new PC to run it, I just accepted I couldn't and kept using 7. Its exactly the same thing now. 8 threw touch at you and if you didn't have a touch screen, getting it made no point. WIn 11 throws TPM and its similar again. Maybe not exactly the same.

its 4 more years before 11 is only choice, support really doesn't mean that much, lots of people still use 7 now and it stopped support years ago. If the OS works, why stop using it?

Don't rush out and buy new MB/CPU just for windows, its not worth the effort.

Its not the problem of difference but rather a problem of not having support. Let's be real here, everyone knows that Microsoft will find a way to make users get 11 whether the users themselves need it or not.

Because if there's no support, then it becomes vulnerable and the antivirus can't help you that much?

Look I get what your saying and you're right that its not worth getting upset over..but even if I slide this off, how would it be possible to get a new PC with a newer motherboard, a newer CPU and possibly DDR4 Rams and PSUs at that point if the current situation persists? Its already difficult getting some of them(My PSU is Seasonic Focus+ PX 850w and that's something my Uncle got from UK..that model isn't available anywhere in my area) especially graphic cards...

Support? AV? there are 3rd party AV providers still. Bitdefender, for instance, still supports win 7 so just cause defender stops, I wouldn't jump.

If a really bad vulnerability is found, they patch older OS. They have patched win 7 after its support ended. Its still got their name on it (OS) so media still attacks them until its fixed.

How does MS force people to upgrade if they stop sending out support patches? secret time bomb set to explode at a certain date? they only do that in Educational versions and Dev versions of Insiders
