Do people soon forget when Windows Live Mail (Hotmail Ajax) first launched its beta that it did not work with IE6 for a week. That is a fail in my book because it was not an outage.

i didn't even know it was down until i read this article, but i'm not a heavy gmail user, i just leave it open in a tab all day and wait for a notifier to tell me a i have an a new gmail message

absolutely ridiculous rookie mistake. I don't know how they stay in business with only a 99.9999% up-time rate.

2 hours? who cares.

[citation][nom]swivelguy[/nom]Only the web interface was down. Gmail worked fine via POP throughout the "outage."[/citation]
So did IMAP.

It was down for me a lot of yesterday. i didnt closely count the hours as im supposed to be doing work at the same time.
now if i could just get the thing to quit hogging my CPU

yeah! lets all use cloud computing cause it will be awesome and nothing could ever go wrong!....

yeah blizzard, lets make starcraft dependent on the internet and your servers for no valid reason. cause it will never have problems like this...

I've used gmail since beta (when you had to be invited rather than just signup... so elite) and I've never been happier with an email provider. They continue to push the envelope rather than sit by and react to the market. They were first to offer GB size mailboxes for free, they were the first (that I knew of) to offer stacking mails and it's just so much cleaner than other emails. I wouldn't have even known about the downtime had I not read/heard about it online/via radio.
