gforce 440mx issue

About a month back I picked up a visiontek 440mx (wich I have since returned) and very time I played JK2 or RTCW it would sporadically (i could be playing for a minute or a hour)freeze/lockup and my pointer would pop up on screen and I could move it around like I was at the desktop. I would still have to reboot inorder to get running again. I would also get very random "nvopengl.dll" errors that would kick me to the desktop. I plan to pick up a gforce 4ti200
and assume I will have the same issues, anyone have any ideas on whats happening here.

Sounds like a driver issue to me.

What operating system are you running? And do you have the latest official detonator drivers?

Also may sound like there was some tinkering in the registry files... I've tried that and something like that happened too.
