GHOST software and Abit KT7 RAID

Yeah! it seems to work, i recently asked questions about this GHOST software to backup your system. It seems that on my pc, the image file is several hundreds of megabytes smaller in size than on a non RAID pc, so i was wondering if the image file was correct. (there was the same software and same amount of data stored on both pc's) But since windows had totally annoyed me again with strange errors and weird lockups, i just formatted my harddrive and used Ghost to put back the data from the image file, and it is running perfectly again!

So, while Symantec states that Ghost does not support RAID, it seems to work allright on my Abit KT7 RAID, with two IBM 30Gb drives, in RAID 0. i used Ghost version 5.

glad to hear that!
I'm getting an abit KT7Raid, and ghost has saved my life more than once... I'd hate to give it up...
can you post if there were any differences in what you did between RAID & NON_RAID drives? Thanx:)

hummmm I would like to try this but my system is running very good at this stage. I would have to see this to beleive it.

The thing I don't get is you had problems, then use ghost and it fixed it? Was this a ghost that you had when you first set up your pc or one that you just made then reghosted after you made the ghost?

When i got it all to work finally for the first time, i used this program Ghost that my bro gave to me, i just made a backup and went on installing all sorts of drivers and programs.
Then things started to mess up a little, but i noticed that my image file was several hundreds of megabytes smaller than that of the image file created on my girlfriends pc. I assembled both pc's at the same time, installing the same software. So i figured that the image file should have the same size. Since it didn't i was wondering about the RAID compatibility. Then i found out that GHOST didn't support RAID, they said so on their website.
But, when my pc totally hanged after tweaking a bit, i formatted everything and used GHOST to restore the first backup. It had already worked on the other pc. This time it worked as well, and that is why i was so happy about it.
I used GHOST 5, and made a partition dump with high compression.

Perhaps my girlfriend has some drivers installed that are not compressable, the amount of uncompressed data on her harddrive seemed to be rougly the same, there even was a little more data on my drive.

So i don't know what caused the difference, but i am happy that it works!

I used the same settings and i even made two backups of each system, and both times there was a difference in size.
i made a "partition to image" dump and i used "high" compression.
