[SOLVED] Gigabit link only 500Mbps

I have set up a link between my gaming desktop and fileserver, it has a gigabit switch, only cat5e cable and both NIC's are gigabit. But when I copy a file from the desktop to server i only get 500mbps, how can i get the full gigabit?

I would check the specs on your drives on both ends to be sure it they are not limiting you.

I found out why the speeds where so bad, it had nothing to do with the drives. The cpu in the server is an old dual core and when I'm uploading to the server it hits 100%
