Hello. I'm looking for recommendations for gigabit routers that include good parental control features and most importantly detailed network traffic logs. This is for a home network. I'd like to be able to know what sites have been visited - even what youtube video was watched if possible (just an example) - with a date/time stamp.

Thanks!

Any higher end router has good tracking if you enable it. There are also 3rd party firmware for some that enable even more options.
Anyone over 12 will just find ways to get around things, which will lead into an easy step into hiding other things. I disabled Facebook on my router for a bit, then found that the kids were using a VPN service because they simply did a web search on how to get around a block. There is nothing that kids won't be able to find on their phones outside of WiFi or with their friends phones or at their houses.

Netgear has an app called genie that is good for parental controls.

Used to be simple solution before edward snowden woke everyone up to spying on internet data. Now almost all sites are moving to HTTPS. Pretty much all you can see is what IP is being connected to. Sometime that is enough but lately with all the hosting going on and the site replication services like akamia you can't always tell much.

You used to be able to see for example what pages on a site someone was looking at or which youtube via they requests. Now if you are lucky you might see they went to youtube.

Your PC does not know where your router really is so if it were to allow you collect the data others in the path can also.

The best I have seen is ASUS merlin firmware although it is still limited. dd-wrt have a feature that is similar to netflow that will let you see all the sessions and how much each session transferred. You can sometime guess what is going on even when the traffic is encrypted based on the patterns the session use.

As mentioned not a lot you can do to stop someone that is determined. You would have to block all and then whitelist to even have a chance. Software loaded on the end clients tends to be the strongest forms of parental control. Things like K9 are very advanced and free for personal use.
