Does Gigabyte B360M HD3 needs bios update to support i5 9400f?

It needs to be updated to BIOS F11 to support the 9400F, contact the retailer and ask them if it's been updated. If not then ask local shops if they can update it for you.

On the box is written that it is optimized for 9000 cpu.

Then that means it was updated before being shipped to the retailer, your all set.
