Hi all,

I’m brand new here and virtually computer stupid. I’ve been super lucky so far in that I’ve built my computer and it’s worked, lol. My issue is with my old hard drive has been acting up and is super slow. I’ll give my specs first.

Ryzen 7 2700x CPU on the B450 Aorus M MB.
1 TB nvme M.2 SSD used for games.
32GB 3200 RAM
GTX 1070 8gb GPU in the top PCIe slot.
Wifi adapter in one of the PCIe slots.

I have one PCIe slot open, the bottom one but I’ve been told to make sure it’s capable of using an PCIe adapter to nvme M.2 SSD. (I hope what I’m putting makes sense)

My question is about the PCIe adapter to M.2 for a second SSD. Can I do this and will it work? Or, will I have to use a SATA 2.5 SSD?

If it doesn’t make sense let me know and I’ll try to make better sense!

Yes, the PCIe to M.2 adapter for a second SSD will work. Keep in mind the bandwidth of the bottom x16 slot is PCI Express 2.0 running at x4, which is 2,000 MB/s, so any NVMe SSD you buy will be limited to that speed. Better quality SSD's like the Samsung 970 EVO read at speeds up to 3,500 MB/s.
