Question Gigabyte B760 DS3H AX V2 m.2 110mm heatsink with 80mm drive

Hello,

I've searched and can't find a definitive answer on this. With this motherboard first m.2 slot has both 110 and 80mm offsets installed and comes with a 110 heatsink with built-in screw (no screw in the 80mm offset). There is a second m.2 slot that only supports 80mm and the offset is installed. There is a single additional m.2 screw included with the motherboard in a baggie which I am assuming is for slot 2. I am installing an 80mm drive in slot 1. So, what *appears* to be correct is for me to install the 80mm drive but not use the screw, use the heatsink adhesive, place the 110 heatsink on top and secure both to the 110 offset. I cannot see any direct guidance on this from Gigabyte so I am asking here. I've seen the same question asked many times and all different answers including using both a screw at 80 and the heatsink at 110, although that seems to me to make less sense. Especially since only the 1 extra screw total was included. Thank you for your help!

Page 26 of the manual states "Locate the proper mounting hole based on the length of your M.2 SSD drive. If needed, move the standoff to the desired mounting hole. Insert the M.2 SSD into the M.2 connector at an angle."

Thanks for the reply. Not to be dense, but I don't understand this to be an answer. Both standoffs are already installed, and this does not mention the included heatsink or where to use the screw.

The m.2 needs to be fastened onto the 80mm standoff. Are you saying that you can't fasten the heatsink when the m.2 is fastened on the 80mm standoff? Or that you need the screw for another m.2?

I haven't tried it but I'm pretty sure I could do both. It just seems pretty odd to me that for 2 M.2 slots Gigabyte would include only include a single screw. That's why I'm thinking the *logical* answer would be to not fasten it to the 80mm standoff, just to screw the heatsink above it/adhered to it.

You might want to include an image of the heatsinks you have access to. As it stands I don't see the board come with an additional heatsink in the box, aside from the one that's already strapped on to the board out of the factor.

You're right it's only the heatsink that comes installed onto the board. It's a 110mm heatsink that goes into a groove above the m.2 slot and comes with an attached screw. And both the 110mm and 80mm offsets are preinstalled. So I'm trying to figure out if it's necessary to screw down the drive at 80mm or just use the heatsink and adhesive to keep it in place.

Wait I hadn't seen the whole thing and my anal retentiveness is kicking in. So you think this video is correct, and that I should use the screw. And that gigabyte decided to only give a single screw for both M.2 slots.
