Gigabyte g1 gaming gtx 1070 fan not spinning

hey

i have had a gigabyte gtx 1070 for a while now and haven't had any problems. but today i started to play game and i heard a very loud noise coming from the card. I noticed that 2 of the 3 fans were spinning and later the third fan started and the noise dissappeared. Please help me with this.

on first hand - don't worry, stay calm and observe it...

you might want to get GPU-Z to monitor your fan speed, and give it a closer look time by time, if it comes up more often, we should talk about that,
and a good visual inspection of the card and the fan cable work.

if this comes up like 3 times a year, forget about it and just restart your computer... i had a similar "problem" with my former R9 290X from sapphire, it turned the fans to maximum from beginning about every threee months, so i just restarted everytime and was never able to reproduce within ~ 2 years of using this card, now it still runs well in another computer.

I ran furmark and noticed that 1 fan stops spinning and the others start spinning very fast at around 60 degrees celcius and stops at about 45. i will check gpu-z later

I think this is on purpose
the 3-fan designs only use 3 fans when they really need it and run on two fans until that point
but I could remember incorrectly

all three fans spin though when below 60 degrees. the third only stops when above that temperature

i also ran furmark while looking at gpu-z but i noticed that it's not the 60 degrees that triggers the problem it's the TDP (atleast i think so) it went over 100% and after that the fans started acting weird.

sounds strange - turning off some fans on low temp is reasonable - doing it on high temp not...

please do a cable checking very carefully - i think about a vibration related short circuit for the middle fan, caused by damaged insulation...

i know checking the cable is pain in the ass, please take care not to damage anything - in case of a case, just replace the card on vendor side,
as this is for sure something really wrong...

I think instead of voiding warranty and perhaps ruining the card I will just use my waranty to get a new card. Thanks for the help anyway.
