Bought the GIGABYTE GA-970A-D3P when I was supposed to buy the GIGABYTE GA-970A-UD3P. Newegg says it's too late to change shipping details but, did I make a bad mistake? I bought this board so I could OC my FX-6300 to 4 GHz, did I completely screw up or am I okay?

Solution
No , it's fine at stock , but don't overclock on it , returning is your call .

UD3P is a great board for overclocking and running 125 w FX8000 series , the other can run them but not an overclocking board.

So should I return it or nah? I actually got this motherboard based off one of your recommendations, bought it and looked back just today to make sure it was right and turns out you listed the UD3P, complete slipup on my end, didn't notice the one letter.

Can't use this to OC at all? Honestly I don't quite understand what risks come with poor power and thermal design.

I agree 100%

I've used the UD3P in several builds. It has better power phase, cooling for the chipset and VRMs, and LLC for overclocking. Got my FX 6350 to 4.950 GHz stable. (* YMMV, each overclock is unique)
