I decided to clear the CMOS on my motherboard because I needed to access the BIOS setup, but was unable to because the splash screen did not respond to keyboard input and continued booting like normal. After clearing the CMOS, the computer starts up as normal, shows the splash screen for about 30 seconds, then changes to a black screen indefinitely. Usually Windows 7 would load up at this point, but does not. While in the splash screen, I am still unable to access the BIOS setup (del key), boot menu (F12), system information (F9), or Q-Flash (end key)
What I have tried:
I have tried using a different keyboard, unplugging all external hardware except for the keyboard, using different USB slots, trying multiple keys to get a response on the splash screen, and cleared the CMOS again.
Motherboard: Gigabyte X79-UP4
Processor: Intel Core i7-3820
OS: Windows 7
GPU: NVIDIA EVGA Geforce GTX 970
Power Supply: Thermaltake TP-1000AH5CES
EDIT:
Tried some more troubleshooting:
- Reseated GPU and RAM, checked all plugs.
- Tried 3 USB keyboards and two PS/2 keyboards
- Got a motherboard speaker. It beeps once, then about 15 seconds later it beeps again, and 15 seconds after that beep, it beeps again before going to the black screen.
- Motherboard speaker 'ticks' when keyboard button is pushed.
