Gigabyte GA-Z170X-Gaming 3 ATX LGA1151 Motherboard beep codes and no POST advice

First time building a system myself. I wanted to recycle some of my old parts. However, when it was all nice and neatly packed inside my case it wouldn't turn on. I took it out of the case, thinking there was a short, that was not the case, but i managed to get it working... for about 15 seconds before it shuts off.

I have re-seated the CPU twice, the second time to check whether or not there were any bent pins on the board. I don't believe I saw any.

Yes, both the 24 pin and the 8 pin are hooked up to the board.

I have tried everything on this guide
I have been posting on other forums and I have had no luck.

The MOBO doesn't have a built in speaker or testing LEDs at least non I could find. I had a small speaker at home which I hooked up and that's how I could get the sound.

The PSU that is new has a "testing" utility that is like the pin test that turns on, my old one doesn't turn on with that but when its hooked up to the MOBO does the same thing; turns for a few seconds then it dies.

I have tried all combinations of RAM one, two on different slots, no RAM.
The CPU/Heat sink fan kicks in, fancy light on the MOBO turns on but I can't get any video to come out.

Any other advice would be greatly appreciated. I am pretty desperate and trying to see what I should RMA at this point. There is no way I just shelled out $500 in parts not to have the system running.

It is entirely possible that the motherboard itself is dead, as Gigabyte is somewhat notorious for having crappy motherboards. I would suggest you send it in for a refund, and get an MSI, ASUS, or ASRock board,

If you want to keep it, you can go through the RMA process.

Try installing only the one RAM module.
It worked for me but i am still trying to make both modules to work

edit: it works only if the module is installed in DDR no 4

I have the same motherboard but I had to reboot it to get it to POST. My previous was a micro atx that was looping and had to scrap it. Mostly what I've got from Gigabyte tech support is if you test it but it won't work and disassemble each component until you rma the motherboard after initial test failure.

I had similar problem with GA-Z170-HD3 DDR3

Speaker made 5 long beeps and power of and on repeately.

Solution was easy in the end. My cpu wasnt supported with installed bios version. So i upgraded bios to last version and problem solved

How did you install the new bios without booting the computer with the cpu?
