Hya,

i have an old mobo, a gigabyte GA-Z77X-D3H and 2 corsair vengeance CMZ16GX3M2A16000C10 ddr3 modules. They only work on ddr3-1 and ddr3-3. And system shows 16 GB instead of 32 GB.

Beside that, only in a specific order, as i found out by trial . If i change the memory from ddr3-1 to ddr3-3 and memory from ddr3-3 to ddr3-1, it does not work.

I also tried some ddr3-1333 modules (2 x KVR1333D3N9/8G and 2 x CMV4GX3M1A1333C9), but they only work at ddr3-1. addind memory modules, make boot fail and loop. start, some seconds and stop.

Does anyone know how to make use of the full potential, having the 32 GB RAM, as ddr3-2 and ddr3-4 are unsuable?

Thx in advance.

P.S. Yes, it's an old mobo, but for a home server still very fine.

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

Do you mean that with one stick of ram, you're seeing exactly half of the ram being reported in both BIOS and OS? Also, I can't find much about the sticks of ram but from what I can find it looks like you should be having 4 sticks of 8GB DDR3-1600MHz 1.65v to get a cumulative amount of 32GB's of ram across 4 ram slots.

Could you look at the PCB revision number located at the bottom of your motherboard?
1000

^top left corner of this image.

With that in mind, add that info as a followup and also check to see what BIOS version you're on at the time of writing.

Lastly, when posting a thread of troubleshooting nature, it's customary to include your full system's specs. Please list them like so:
CPU:
Motherboard:
Ram:
SSD/HDD:
GPU:
PSU:
Chassis:
OS:
Monitor:

You might want to include the age of the PSU, apart from it's make and model. Also grab an eraser, a fine bristle brush and be prepared to clean the slots with said brush, and the sticks of ram with the eraser.

Thanks for answering. The board is revision 1.0.

Correct. Having 2 CMZ16GX3M2A16000C10 sticks, one on slot ddr3-1 and one on slot ddr3-3 BIOS shows 16GB memory.

Having one CMZ16GX3M2A16000C10 on slot ddr3-1 shows 8 GB memory.

The other options i tried to verify if problems were with with slots or with sticks.

Bios shows F8.
