Hello,
I want to know if Gigabyte GeForce GTX 660 OC 2GB GDDR5 will work good with my old pc
Intel core 2quad Q8200
-motherboard EP43-DS3L
- PSU HEC 500W
- RAM 4G bus 800
monitor 23 resolution 1920*1080
and which better Gigabyte GeForce GTX 660 OC 2GB GDDR5 or HD 7870 OC 2GB GDDR5

i got a question do u think nvidia geforce gtx 650 work with Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q6600 2.40GHz cause i just bought a gtx 660 but i think my proccesor is to low so im going to return it and thinking about changing it to a 650 do u think it will work or? my motherboard got 750watts so and all my other parts are "decent"

No. I think you will run into the same problem. The 600 series Kepler are more cpu hungry plus these cards where made in 2012 as opposed to the core 2 quad that came out somewhere like 2005/2006. Sorry to say, but you are in need of an upgrade. You need DDr3 ram,, a seven series mobo H77/Z77 or an AMD mother board at the very minimum to upgrade to a new cpu.

If you can't afford at least a quad core I5/I7 , then go for and AMD bulldozer and use the savings for a nicer Card like an Nvidia 670 or AMD Radeon 7950. You don't have to blow your account to get good performance.

but what about a geforce 550 ti? would it work?

Yes it would. In fact you may be fine with a 560ti or 570. Those were made back in the day when there as many high end cpu's. At minimum go for a 560ti. In my experience, the 500ti is an alright card, but you always feel like you cheaped out and should have went better. I would strongly suggest a 570 but a 560ti would be fine to.

ok thanks alot! but 1 last question, do u think the nvidia geforce gt 640 would work?

It would, however the 560ti/570 would smoke it. It all depends on what you want to do. If you are playing games, the obvious choice would be a 560ti or 570. If all you plan to do is main stream computing such as internet or light games, then the 640 would be the low power consumption option.

The power supply should be upgraded if you do plan to you a nice graphics card in order not to strain the one you have. You can pick an 800 watt up for like $50 bucks.

Yes it does. It would work fine in your XPS. Most computers from 2005 on had PCIE X16 expansion slot.

The card is much too strong for your setup man.... Crazy bottle-necks on the cpu!!!
