Gigabyte GeForce GTX 970 G1 Gaming SLI for future games?

I just bought 2 Gigabyte GeForce GTX 970 G1 Gaming and plan to use them in SLI. How long will these cards last me? Will they be able to play future games 2016-2017?

For how long? 2 years? 3? I have heard that new games will be using more vram.
