Basically I can get a GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 980Ti 6GB XTREME GAMING EDITION for £350 which offers pretty close performance to the 1070 and it is currently much cheaper, i'm not bothered about the other 3-5 fps that i'd be missing out on... should I still just wait or is there not much i'm missing out on? Minus ansel which I dont mind really

Hard for any of us to answer. Don't know your specs and don't know what you mean by much cheaper. If the cards were the same price, I'd definitely hold out for the GTX 1070: newer generation, lower power usage, and quieter card. In reference to your full specs, I'm most interested in your power supply's manufacturer and model #, to do determine if it has the quality and wattage to even handle a GTX 980 Ti.

Well the 980ti I'm looking at runs for £347.99 which is quite a bit cheaper than the 1070's seem around £420-470 but I'm not sure if that's just due stock availability or will the prices be around that for a while???

Also I have a 600w corsair psu not sure the exact model off the top of my head

Ah, okay.

My assumption is that it's a Corsair CX600 or CX600M: Not the greatest quality. Combine that statement with the fact that the Gigabyte Xtreme gaming has a peak gaming and maximum power consumption of 250 watts and 309 watts respectively, according to a TechPowerUp review ( https://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Gigabyte/GTX_980_Ti_XtremeGaming/21.html ). Personally, I wouldn't upgrade to a 980 Ti, especially that high powered version of it, without upgrading the power supply. The purchase price of a quality power supply could very well exceed the price difference between the 980 Ti and GTX 1070.

Request: I'm aware that your initial question was a seemingly simple one, but would you mind stating your full specs?

Built down to a low price. Not exactly the most stable units ever created. Very basic safety circuitry or even thin gauge wiring used. Not for gaming rigs or overclocking systems of any kind. Avoid unless your budget dictates your choice.

you could look at side by side reviews with like/same games they use to test with and see whats they show ?

like on this pages near the same in bf4 ?? and most look as good or better with the 980ti ? tit for tat

1070

980ti
https://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Gigabyte/GTX_980_Ti_XtremeGaming/9.html

look at all the same games tested and then it a judgment call on your end ? I see nothing wrong with the 980ti personally then if got a a nice price ??? why not

Thanks for you input I think I might go for the 980ti, cause I'm right in thinking that all i'll be missing out on is a few extra fps, lower power usage and ansel if I get the 980ti over the 1070 right?

Yeah well the fps are pretty much the same and for £345 instead of the £420-450 i'd be looking at spending on a 1070 it seems like the better choice.
