Gigabyte GTX 970 power cables

Hi guys!

I've got a question regarding the card above. It needs one 8 pin and one 6 pin power cable. My corsair hx 750 psu didn't come with a 8 pin cable. It is currently connected via two 6 pin cables, and it runs fine, but I would like to connect it properly. The problem is I can't seem to be able to find an 8 pin cable to buy separately, there are only extension cables. And I don't think I should buy a new psu just because of this.

So the question is can I buy this cable anywhere, or is this fine the way it is now?

many PSUs come with 6 + 2 pins. So you put in one 2 pin and one 6 pin cable to the 8 pin slot. and ofc just normal 6 pin cable to the other 6 pin slot

Yes, that's the way it is connected now. But my concern is that the other end of the 6+2 pin cable, the end that connects to the psu, has only 6 pins not 8. The plastic housing has 8 slots, but only 6 are occupied. Or is this the way every cable is?

as far as I know that's how it is. my PSU is non-modular so havent really messed with the cables after building my PC

Its would seem kind of strange to me because if this is the case then why are there 8 pin connectors on the psu if only 6 are used?
