Hello,

I've read through similar threads, but none of them provided a solution for me (all seem to be power / CPU / RAM problems).

I have a Gigabyte Z270 motherboard, Core i5 7500, 16GB DDR4, Gigabyte NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 3GB.

POST is fine, but I get no video output when using GTX 1060's HDMI port. When I use motherboard HDMI port, for onboard graphics, I get video output just fine?

The card is in the primary PCIe 16x slot (other ports are 8x, 4x and 1x) and the 6-pin power connector is attached...

Any advice?

Can't test DVI or DisplayPort, only have HDMi cable and display. HDMI on the motherboard (onboard graphics) works, but HDMI on the card does not.

PSU is a Cooler Master MasterWatt Lite 700. I've heard it's not the best rated PSU, but it's more than powerful enough for this machine.

I only have one HDMI cable, so it's never plugged into both the GPU and motherboard at the same time. I tried removing the battery for two minutes, also tried removing and reinsertion the card and then tried it in the PCIe 8x slot. Still nothing.

I am now installing Windows 10, using the onboard graphics. Is there any possibility that the card will show up in Device Manager, despite the situation? And if so, will that give any clues? I guess I'll find out.

Right, I have found the problem, but I don't know if it can be fixed. The card isn't properly installed into the PCIe slot because the motherboard is about 3mm too low in the case. If I take the motherboard out of the case, I can install the graphics card properly and it works. The case is a Cooler Master Silencio 6520 and I can find nowhere to adjust the height of the motherboard tray. Do I need a new case?

i'm surprised it did not short out the mobo on the case without the standoffs. you're lucky it booted and ran that way at all. but glad you figured it out. you'll never forget this lesson as long as you lived for sure.
